16th Summer School on Computer Science
RIO 2009

February 16-21, 2009 - Rio Cuarto, Argentina

This edition of the school will be held from the 16th of February 2009 until the 21th of February 2009, in the campus of the National University of Rio Cuarto, Rio Cuarto, Cordoba, Argentina.

The Rio 2009 school is intended for university researchers, including PhD students as well as under graduated students and professionals from the industry (engineers and managers). Participants learn about the most important computer science and software technology advances from the pioneers in the field. The school's focus is theory and applied to establish solid foundations. The format of the school favors extensive interaction between participants and speakers.

Since its first edition in 1994 the school has offered a total of 86 courses on various subjects of Computer Science. Lecturers of previous editions include Ugo Montanari (University of Pisa), Enrique Ruspini (SRI), Carlo Ghezzi (Polytechnical University of Milano), Bengt Nordstrom (University of Chalmers), Gregory Chaitin (IBM Watson Research Center), Gilles Barthe (INRIA), Stephan Merz (INRIA), Tomás Uribe (SRI), Verónica Dahl (Simon Fraser University), Narciso Martí-Oliet (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), Tom Maibaum (McMaster University) and Patrick Blackburn (INRIA).

Confirmed Lecturers Rio 2009:

Schools are normally composed of six courses. Courses are normally composed of five lectures, each of 2.5 hours and taught from Monday to Friday during the week of the school. The final test of the course is typically taken the Saturday after the week of the school, at the morning.

Associated event: The Symposium on Automatic Program Verification. This event will be held at Rio Cuarto, Argentina on February 14-15, 2009.

The campus of the University is quite large, full of trees and a small forest of local flora, with some trees that are 500 years old. The campus also has an outdoors swimming pool, facilities for practising various sports, a library, wireless internet connection and air conditioned offices and classrooms, among other facilities.
